After the NASCAR All-Star race in Bristol, the paddock heads over to Texas for the next round of the Cup Series. As has been the case in the past few weeks, the sport decided the grid positions via a lucky draw. For this weekend, Aric Almirola is set to start on pole position for the 2nd time in 2020.

The last time he was on pole position was when the Stewart-Haas Racing’s No. 10 Ford led the field at the Pocono Raceway. With this pole position, it will be the fifth time that Aric Almirola is starting on the front row this season.

During his previous run at Bristol, he ended up 9th fastest in the All-Star Race. He managed to sneak into the event after winning one of the stages in the All-Star Open.

Where do the rest of the grid feature behind Aric Almirola?

Alongside him on the front row is the #12 Team Penske car of Ryan Blaney, making it an all-Ford front-row lockout. Behind them stands a Busch brother lockout, with Kurt Busch starting ahead of Kyle.

Kevin Harvick rounds out the Top 5 with Brad Keselowski, Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott, Joey Logano, and Martin Truex Jr. completing the Top 10.

Out of the remaining drivers in the lucky draw group, Matt DiBenedetto is set to line up in 11th alongside Alex Bowman in the 12th.

Almirola is yet to win a race this season but has run among the leaders, proving his race pace. In Bristol, he started in 17th place and scythed past at least 20 other drivers to reach ninth.

With the Bristol All-Star race being a non-point-scoring race, 9th fetched him no rewards. Meanwhile, Chase Elliott walked away with a $1 million cheque.

All said and done, Aric Almirola is a good driver. Two career victories, 23 top-five finishes, and 70 top 10 finishes prove this statement true.

Additionally, Almirola has also recorded five Top 5 finishes and nine Top 10 finishes this season alone. He also led around 218 laps and has amassed 504 points.
