On Wednesday, NASCAR issued a couple of L-2 penalties. The Stewart Haas Racing’s Ford team finished the race in 29th position. However, some unapproved modifications in a single-source part attracted a 100-point penalty for driver Kevin Harvick as well as the team. The Stewart Haas crew chief Rodney Childers was also fined $100,00.
In another incident in the World Truck Camping Series, Young’s Motorsports were handed down a penalty. Although it did not include a point penalty or monetary fine, NASCAR fans didn’t seem quite happy. Parker Retzlaff’s crew chief Andrew Abbott was issued a behavioral penalty.
Owing to an incident that occurred before the race, NASCAR ordered Abbott to go through a mandatory anger management training program. However, fans were surprised and upset about the governing body not taking an action against a David Gilliland Racing (DGR) crew member.
During the race, DGR driver Hailie Deegan ran into a pit crew member on the pit road. The crew member was carrying a tire at the time and due to Deegan’s hit, the tire in his hand went tumbling across the track. But before the tire rested on the tri-oval grass, the crew member carrying the tire ran behind the wheel.
Seeing this as a dangerous act, NASCAR immediately ejected him from the property and revoked his credentials. However, on Wednesday, no penalty was levied on the crew member or the team. Hence, forcing NASCAR fans to express their disappointment on Twitter.
No penalty for the DGR member?!?! That is crazy!
Major safety issue

"No suspension to the DGR crew member ejected for retrieving the tire in infield" HOW?
— Brian Bourgeon (@BrianBourgeon) October 5, 2022
Was the DGR guy not suspended because his hard card was revoked and hasn’t been returned? Seems odd if there’s no punishment besides having it revoked mid race just to have it returned without penalty.
