The Rolex 24 at the Daytona International Speedway is often considered to be the unofficial start of a new season in American motorsports. This year, there are several big names both inside the cars and outside. One of the big names who will be taking part in the action is legendary Hollywood actor Brad Pitt. The Fight Club star is on duty filming for a new Formula One movie that promises to be an epic viewing experience. Pitt has been visiting races worldwide over the past several months filming for the new movie, including Formula One events.

Apart from that, just like every year when racers from all around the world come to the iconic venue to participate, this year will be no different either. However, one of the questions that fans have had is who are the NASCAR stars that will be seen gracing the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

In which event are the full-time NASCAR racers competing in?

It isn’t too common for NASCAR stars to take part in IMSA events but it has been done before. The likes of Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Jimmie Johnson, and Jeff Gordon have all swapped stock cars for the IMSA sports cars, so it’s not a completely unusual occurrence. This year, unfortunately, no full-time NASCAR racer has taken part in the 24-hour race at the Daytona International Speedway.

However, some have participated in another event held over the weekend and they are all Toyota racers. Two of them are full-time Cup Series racers and the other driver races in the Truck Series. The three racers were part of the same team for the Michelin Pilot Race, which was held on Friday.

These three racers are 23XI Racing star Bubba Wallace, Legacy Motor Club’s newest recruit John Hunter Nemechek, and Tricon Garage racer Corey Heim. For a lot of NASCAR racers, the IMSA event is often used to enhance their skills in road course racing.

Bubba Wallace admitted that the only reason he was taking part in the IMSA event was to improve his road course racing skills. The 30-year-old was candid about his shortcomings in road courses. Perhaps if he wants to be called a Cup Series champion, he has to improve that part of his game. But how exactly will Bubba Wallace’s road course participation help in his Cup Series quest?

The 23XI Racing star has been a part of NASCAR for several years now, but his record on road courses hasn’t really been up to the level that the driver would want it to. Wallace has only finished inside the top 10 in road courses twice in his career. Compared to his teammate Tyler Reddick, that number does not look like something he would call impressive.

“If you go look at my road course resume, nothing really to brag about. Got a couple of good finishes here and there, but I found the thing that was most consistent with me was like my race craft. I found that I can go lay down a decent lap but when it comes to putting the whole field out there together, then I kind of would get in my own little shell and not really make much happen,” the 30-year-old had said.
