For the second time in the 2023 NASCAR Cup season, Chase Elliott has been reduced to a spectator. The last time around, it was because he injured himself in a snowboarding accident. As a result, he was out of action for several weeks as he focused on his recovery. This time though, Elliott has been sidelined for a different reason, and this time it is for his on-track actions.

Last weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, the Hendrick Motorsports driver intentionally wrecked Denny Hamlin. Now, while everyone else will head to the World Wide Technology Raceway, Elliott will be twiddling his thumbs.

Or, that would have been the case if he hadn’t found some alternate arrangements. Admittedly, he is not Kyle Larson, so he is not about to hop into a Sprint car or a Midget car, and go racing. Instead, he will be partaking in the other important duty.

What Is Chase Elliott Up To? And What Do Fans Have to Say About It?

When you are as famous as Chase Elliott, it means that apart from being a sportsperson, you are also a PR machine. Luckily for the #9 driver, he will still be in the area, along with his teammates.

This is because he is heading to a local NAPA Auto Parts store in the state of Illinois. Elliott recently posted on social media, urging fans to pop by to say hi to him between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM local time. Naturally, several fans were thrilled and residents of Litchfield, Illinois, will be sure to make the trip to the NAPA store.

But still, even though he may be the most popular driver in NASCAR, it doesn’t mean that he does not have haters. A fair number of fans were upset at his actions at the Coca-Cola 600.

Many of the fans felt that he should at least apologize, since the move was pretty blatant. There was some surprise when Chase Elliott posted this particular tweet, as they were expecting an apology.

“When are you going to apologize?”
“You need to be arrested sadly”

Aside from the fans and the haters, a third section of fans flooded the comments, the trolls.

The Trolls Came Up With a Hilarious Potential Scenario

It didn’t take long for people to begin cracking jokes at Elliott’s expense. The common theme was that people were expecting to see a ‘wild’ Denny Hamlin unexpectedly showing up for revenge. But then again, Hamlin has far better things to do than lurk around and wait for the perfect opportunity to get his revenge.

It is safe to assume that Hamlin will be focused on the upcoming Cup race at the World Wide Technology Raceway. Meanwhile, Elliott will be sure to tune in to the TV screens and watch the race from the comfort of his home. Without a doubt, he will be cheering for his three teammates, as well as Corey LaJoie, who is substituting for him. When the 2020 Cup champion does get back in the fold, he will have to be careful. This is because missing this weekend’s race means one less chance for him to reach the 2023 Cup Series playoffs.
