Not being a full-time Cup Series driver has come to hurt Beard Motorsports’ driver, Austin Hill big time. In 2023, Hill got a chance to prove himself worthy of the Daytona 500, but couldn’t make his way into the grid of 40 cars after a failed qualifying attempt.
On top of that, having only the #62 Chevrolet to compete in the Daytona robs of the guarantee a driver can have with the team. Owing to his failed Dayton 500 attempt, Beard Motorsports has handed over the wheel to Anthony Alfredo, following which he unveiled his excitement.

Officially announcing Alfredo’s Daytona 500 run in the #62 car, Beard Motorsports revealed the news on X and wrote, “We’re back in 2024. Welcome to the Beard Motorsports team, @AnthonyAlfredo! #NASCAR | #Daytona500” This will be Alfredo’s second shot at the Daytona 500. During the 2021 stint, he crashed out quite early in the race and finished at a disappointing P32.
Within minutes of the team’s revelation, Alfredo shared a video on his Instagram account, expressing his gratitude to the team and said, “As you may have just seen, I will be attempting the Daytona 500 for Beard Motorsports, driving their iconic #62 Chevrolet Camaro I’m thrilled about this opportunity, very thankful because every race in the NASCAR Cup Series is nothing short of a blessing when you have the opportunity to compete and to do it in the biggest race of the year at Daytona 500, one that I have another shot at since 2021 when we got caught up in the big one.”
“It’s super super exciting, I’m really pumped about it and it wouldn’t have been possible without all of you,” Alfredo added.

Soon after Hill’s disappointing fate at the 2023 Daytona 500 attempt, his 2024 seat with Beard Motorsports was in jeopardy. As they are a non-charter team, the guaranteed entry into the NASCAR Cup Series was an alien term.
Alfredo faced misery during his previous Daytona 500 outing in 2021, but it was Austin Hill’s five failed shots to even secure a point in the Cup Series that yielded no outcome. So, the odds were favoring Alfredo over Hill.
