Kurt Busch’s remarkable legacy is one few can rival. Back in 2014, he achieved an extraordinary feat by taking on both the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway, covering an incredible 1,100 miles on Memorial Day. What made it even more impressive was that he completed this grueling challenge.

Although Kyle Busch once voiced his desire to follow in his brother’s footsteps, those plans never came to fruition. Now, a decade later, the Andretti family has unveiled some iconic photographs from that historic day on the tracks, sparking nostalgia for Kurt’s unforgettable run.

10 years have passed since Kyle Busch took up the iconic Indy Double which accumulated to a total of 1100 miles in total. He finished 6th in the Indianapolis 500 and then traveled to Charlotte Motor Speedway. Here his run ended at the 271th lap majorly due to an engine failure. Speaking of the same, he had mentioned, “It was a challenge I put forth for myself. I enjoyed it. I soaked it in.” Despite the great attempt that Busch made, and the tenacity of the race, people have almost forgotten of this legendary attempt.

Since Busch missed the drivers’ meeting before the start of the 600, he was required to begin the race from the back of the field. Despite this setback, he managed to climb into the top 15. However, his momentum was halted by a broken shock absorber, and his race ultimately ended due to engine failure. To reminisce about the memories that Busch has fostered, the Andretti family has shared some photographs of the driver during his attempt. The post read, “Lost files of Kurt Busch”.

These have struck a chord in the hearts of fans who have been a testimony of this iconic attempt by Kurt Busch. Strangely, the photographs come out at a time when there is already enough curiosity about a recent wish that Kyle Busch expressed. When Busch heard that Kyle was all set to attempt this iconic drive, he also expressed some wish to participate in the race. Despite having repeated discussions with Arrow McLaren, this did not come into actualization.

Speaking of his wish to attempt this genre of racing, Kyle Busch said “I’ve kind of always said I’d love to give it a shot and have that opportunity to be able to get out there. Obviously… Indy road course is vastly different than the oval, but still to get my hands and feet and everything else behind the wheel and maybe go make some laps would certainly be neat”. Even Busch’s team, Richard Childress had expressed openly that the team would support Kyle Busch just the way they had supported Kyle Larson in his attempt.
