Following a disastrous season that got him ousted in the most awful way possible, Alex Bowman isn’t letting the tragic fate get to his head. Bowman’s team, Hendrick Motorsports, recently revealed the new #48 car for the upcoming 2024 season, causing a rift in the community. The driver certainly has learned a lot from the bad experience of getting eliminated from the fray without even making it to the playoffs. But his team upped the ante, teasing #48 fans for an epic comeback and sharing a sneak peek of Alex Bowman‘s Ally-powered HMS Chevy.

Hendrick Motorsports #48’s stunning new Camo look

A few hours ago, NASCAR’s winningest team, Hendrick Motorsports, and Ally Financial, unveiled the paint scheme for their 2024 entry. Designer Sean Bull certainly has done an impressive job of bringing the digital bank to life, matching it with a “digital camo” look for Bowman’s #48 car. The graphic designer, who previously worked with BMW and Red Bull, was ecstatic to work with the top NASCAR team, marking his first entry into the world of racing.

While the car gives out more of a plum color from a distance, upon closer look, one just cannot overlook the minute details that are etched on the livery. From the front, one would see the giant Ally logo plastered on the hood, while from the side, the car exudes style with the Ally branding and its tagline, “Do it right,” popping out in swagger. Reflecting on the opportunity, Bull said, “It was an approach from Ally. They reached out to me, and they wanted to get sort of an artist with a different perspective involved for this year’s car.”

To have Ally come to me and be like, ‘Look, we’ve got a blank canvas for you. These are our colors. Go ahead. We want to see what you’ve got.’ So to have that was amazing. You don’t often get that in any form of motorsport, and I’ve found the chance. I got to go to Miami with Ally and see the cars there. There’s so much more openness in NASCAR and the schemes,” said the designer to NASCAR.com.

Now, disputes and debates are nothing new in the NASCAR nation. It’s these whole-hearted fan interactions that uphold the spirit of the sport, spreading the word to new dimensions and prompting others to take a look at what is happening in the community. The HMS #48’s reveal was no different in that aspect.

The fandom was pretty divided about the new livery. Some fans were quite taken aback to see such a monotonous theme from a renowned designer like Sean Bull. “I‘m usually a big fan of Sean‘s work, but this does nothing for me. Much like drivers‘ helmets these days, an unidentifiable mess of shapes and colours,” said one fan who wasn’t impressed with the new paint scheme.

The rift was very much apparent when one user noted, “It’s gotten worse every year since 2021″ while another wrote, “Got to make this a wallpaper.” The comment section soon after filled up with such contrasting comments. “Ugliest car I ever seen;” “The best Hendrick scheme for 2024!” What do you think about Bowman’s new theme?
