The partnership between Stewart-Haas Racing and Mobil 1™ has never just been business. The Official Motor Oil of NASCAR, which has been providing primary sponsorships for all four SHR premier series cars since 2011, has produced many significant wins. Case in point: Stewart’s 2011 Cup Series championship win—the closest points battle in NASCAR history—that ended with a final race victory in a tiebreaker over Carl Edwards. And the Smoke remembers.
In a recent initiative, Mobil 1™ partnered with NASCAR to create a video series that put the spotlight on unique tales in the sport. Enter racing icon and Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner Tony Stewart who mentioned how the $400 billion+ worth of the company had played a crucial role in his success, going all the way back to 2011.

Providing every Stewart-Haas Racing driver with lubricant technology and engineering support, Tony Stewart opened up in the Why We Race? series, “We won the 2011 Cup Championship because we had the efficiency in our lubricants to help us save enough fuel to get to the end where our competition didn’t. It’s not just a paint scheme on a car. It is truly about the products they put underneath us that help us be better at our jobs.”
Talking about the synchronization that Mobil 1™ shares with his team, he added, “I mean you want to surround yourself with people who are like-minded and everything that Mobil 1™ does they have that same intensity that we have at winning races.”
Stewart’s comments came at a time when his 2023 run saw a terrible outing for Stewart-Haas Racing. And going to 2024, he will be without his sponsors, Busch Light and Smithfield. It all began when the sponsors of now-retired Kevin Harvick and Aric Almirola announced that they would be parting ways with the team along with their drivers. Yet, standing with him against the test of time is Mobil 1™ which will continue to serve as the primary sponsor for the team in 2024.

He reminisced, “My grandfather drove a mobile gas truck for 30 years. In spring break, we would always go spend the week at our grandparents’. My grandfather, one night during that week, would take me on the fuel run in the truck. To me, having this helmet and having the globe on it just reminds me of those days that I spent with my grandfather.”
