Kyle Busch doesn’t have a very loud and blingy personality. With the accolades and achievements he has hoarded in his long NASCAR CV, it really is a surprise to see such a reticent and reserved man in Busch. But it might as well be one of his biggest strengths, allowing him to put his head down and concentrate on the job more than anything.

In a very honest and candid interview with The Athletic, Busch shared some interesting things about his life as a NASCAR driver; things otherwise we might not be aware of.
When asked if being spotted in the grocery store is a normal thing for him, he said “Pretty much every time. It might be a customer, like someone shopping and doing their own stuff and they just go by you and do a double take. Maybe they’ll stop and say hello. Or it could actually be a worker there who recognizes (me). But typically it’s every time. Now that’s the local store. I guess if I’m shopping out of town, it’s one out of 10 times, I would say.”
“No, I get recognized doing that [if going out of Charlotte for dirt racing changes that]. We were in Knoxville, Iowa, and I got recognized by two people in the store on that one. I was more thinking if we’re in Phoenix and we needed something for the motorhome and we go to the store to go pick up a few groceries or whatever, I might not get recognized there. But if you’re anywhere there’s a track or something nearby and there’s a race in town, you’re most likely going to get some recognition.”

The blurring of lines between private and public life is possibly the biggest con that comes with the legendary status Busch commands. But he manages it well. Learning to do that is part of the job and an essential part of it.
What is Kyle Busch up to these days?
After 15 years with Joe Gibbs Racing, Kyle Busch was sent a harsh message – you’re no longer required. While the words weren’t so straightforward, the fallout was. Putting all that behind him, the veteran is heading to Richard Childress Racing next season.
However, his path to RCR has not been untroubled. Despite his distinguished and illustrious career, Busch had trouble finding sponsors for himself. With no great options coming his way, a great conversation was spotted online by the keen eyes of netizens.
