Like it or not, it is too difficult to keep Bubba Wallace out of the daily talk. While all these times, his performances this season were under scrutiny, his recent act at Martinsville has only fueled the fire. Hendrick Motorsports star Kyle Larson may have grabbed the headlines with his second win of the 2023 campaign. However, the talk of the hour is Wallace bumping his boss, Denny Hamlin.

It is no secret how Martinsville is the shortest track in the NASCAR Cup Series. The 0.526-mile track more often than not instigates contact for one driver to pass through another. However, it only got more interesting on Sunday when Wallace contacted Hamlin.

With 3 DNFs in eight races, Wallace raised a lot of eyebrows. Things only got more heated when he asked to be “replaced”, which was then deemed as a sort of an “overreaction”. However, he has bounced back strongly as he earned himself a ninth-place finish at Martinsville on Sunday.

In his post-race interview, Wallace described his experience by saying, “We caught a massive break there, proud of our team for trying something there, running long and I’ve seen a tire laying in the restart zone for three laps. I’m like this is our break. I don’t know where the leader is, this is our break and we ended up getting it.

“So just way to stay mentally in it for our team and rebound to a top ten. Man, I’m still puzzled on how I sped there at the second stage but all in all mistakes happen and we rebounded and didn’t count ourselves out and ended up in the top ten.”

That being said, one of the highlights of his race was when he shoved his boss, Denny Hamlin, on the track. At one point, Wallace was seen contacting Hamlin in an attempt to pass him, but it turned out to be unsuccessful. The Alabama-born driver tried it more than once, but to no avail.
