Unlike many other motorsports on the scene, NASCAR definitely has its niche spot with a highly loyal fanbase. So, what truly makes NASCAR unique? Is it the sense of traditional oval racing that the fans adore and love? Or is it the intense race moments, aggression, and drama inside the track?

Well, the answer is quite simple! It’s all of those things combined! Another aspect that sets the sport apart from its competition is the participation of female drivers on the same platform as their male peers. Female drivers have been a part of NASCAR since the very beginning, with Sara Christian racing in the inaugural race in 1949 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Coming to the present, in the recently concluded Truck Series race, it was the #13 Ford F-150 driver Hailie Deegan who made the headlines after a stellar performance. Following the last race at Texas Motor Speedway, Deegan turned heads with a career-best 6th-place finish. Speaking to the media after the race, Deegan expressed her thoughts on her performance and the recent criticism she has faced.

Actions do speak louder than words; Hailie Deegan hits back at nay-sayers

Recently, the driver has garnered a lot of criticism from fans after running into Kaden Honeycutt trying to get to a better position at COTA.

However, the 21-year-old certainly proved her haters wrong when she finished sixth and earned precious race points. Mentioning the caution-ridden and action-packed race in Texas, she shared how she felt, “I was super super happy with how it turned out. Glad we hung in there all day. There’s a lot of big ones that we had to avoid and we’re able to make it through all of them, made some really smart decisions so I ended up fifth. A great day!”

Mentioning the recent criticism she has faced, the reporter asked what the performance meant for her and other women in motorsports. To this, an optimistic Deegan responded by sharing some insights on the sport’s dynamics. She said, “Yeah, I mean, I think racing, no matter what, has bad days and good days, and you’re gonna have a lot more bad days than good days. There’s one guy that wins and there’s all of us down to the pit road that don’t.

“So, there’s one winner out of this and you do everything you can to be that one winner every so often. Just keep pushing, keep chipping away at it.”

How did the race play out?
