As the NASCAR playoffs draw near with each passing weekend, Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott’s situation ig getting more precarious. Elliott recently shared his concerns during a candid interview after the Richmond practice race, shedding light on his team’s struggles and aspirations.

During the interview with FrontStretch, Chase Elliott appeared optimistic about his team, Hendrick Motorsports, given their history of strong performances. But he still isn’t sure about his own success, pondering on a burning question—“Am I ever gonna be happy?”

Chase Elliott understands the legacy he represents as a part of NASCAR’s winningest team, Hendrick Motorsports. He acknowledged the unyielding desire for victory ingrained in the DNA of HMS. “Boss likes to win, so I don’t see that changing,” he affirmed a glimmer of determination in his eyes.

Despite his achievements on the track, The 2020 Cup Series champion remains his harshest critic. Reflecting on his his car’s performance in short and long tracks, he admitted, “There’s a couple of characterstics that our car doesn’t have that I would like it to have,” while acknowledging, “Am I ever gonna be happy? Probably not.” Such candid introspection is rare in motorsports, where drivers often mask their insecurities behind confidence.

 

But if statistics paint the most vivid picture, Elliott’s road course achievements speak volumes. Three times, Elliott’s roar of victory came at the iconic Charlotte Roval. At the same time, Daytona road course, Watkins Glen, COTA, and Road America have also been hosts to his triumphs. As for ovals, Elliott talked a bit about next week’s race at the Michigan International Speedway, a track where despite ten top-10 and three runner-up finishes in 12 appearances, he is yet to score a victory.
