“All a Dog and Pony Show”- Veteran NASCAR Insider Unravels His Frustration With NASCAR’s Rolling Out of Electric Vehicle

The EV revolution has finally come knocking on NASCAR’s doors. And guess what, NASCAR is inviting it right into their living room with an adequate electric power train that will be unveiled at the Clash for the pre-season breakout. But for a sport that is known for its traditionalism, will the organization’s EV romance push itself into sudden death?

For one, that question itself is a bit more complex than you think. But veteran dirt racer and former Xfinity Series driver, Kenny Wallace has a proper justification laid out as the 60-year-old divulged his EV loathing in simple words, saying, “We’re all jacked up on Mountain Dew by electric car.” Speaking on his YouTube channel, the veteran shared his thoughts on the current trend of killing internal combustion engines to arrange the flower bed for battery-powered vehicles.

Kenny Wallace reveals the long-term issues behind an EV push

As we get into 2024, the EV revolution has come marching to NASCAR’s doorsteps. The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) confirmed that it was working on an electric version of its tube-frame silhouette racers last year.

Consequently, the first fully electric NASCAR will make its public debut during the Busch Light Clash in Los Angeles on February 4th. With the massive event right around the corner, the “Hermanator” has dropped his verdict calling it a “pony show.” Reflecting on the unveiling, he said, “I think this is all a big pony show, dog and pony show.” 

The dirt race then elaborated, “Listen, I’m an old redneck. I tell you, one reason I think hydrogen is better because we’re all jacked up on Mountain Dew by Electric Car, and that’s fine. That’s fine, but there’s 360 million people in America. So let’s just take half. We’re gonna need…What a hundred million charging stations? I’m betting during 100,000 charging stations in all of America right now. So…we got these electric vehicles, we’re doing our part, we’re saving earth but in the end, it’s not practical.”

Citing the instance of a blackout, Wallace called spade a spade, laying it out in layman’s terms. He said, “I’m gonna say the quote of all quotes, right here, ‘We will need gasoline, electric and hydrogen to make the world go round. We’re gonna need it all’.”

“Look, a storm comes, your electricity goes out. Can’t go to work the next day because you were charging your vehicle, but there’s no electricity in the house. So now you’ve got to go get a generator,” said the veteran dirt racer, mentioning a real-life situation to substantiate his claim. While he is not completely against the electrification of vehicles, what he is against is the government officials’ stance on this. 

He said, “There’s nothing wrong with…Using a little bit of everything, however, do not jam an electric vehicle down my throat and go, ‘You gotta, you gotta run electric vehicles’, like they’re out there in California.” Wallace then fired away more shots, dealing more damage, saying, “That’s going to be the biggest sh*t show you’ve ever seen in your life..[…].They’re ridiculous. You know, whatever it is 2050 or whatever it is, they’re saying, ‘Every car got to be electric’. Well, that whole place to go dark.
