It hasn’t been as good a season as Alex Bowman as well as Hendrick Motorsports would’ve expected out of their #48 driver. Bowman hasn’t been able to replicate his silent success from last season, and on top of that, he’s had a couple of massive setbacks.
One of them is his current concussion, which has ruled him out from the last few races along with the coming few races. The other setback, one out of his hands really, was his longtime crew chief, Greg Ives announcing his farewell come the end of the season.

Now, Hendrick Motorsports and Bowman would have to wait for the injury to heal in its due course of time, they’ve at least come up with a solution, a pretty massive one for the other problem.
Blake Harris has been signed on as the crew chief of #48 Ally Camaro from next season.

This signing was one that didn’t need any second guessing on its potential and promise. Harris will join HMS after leading Michael McDowell to his career-best season so far.
Naturally, this wasn’t lost on fans either.
Huge W for Hendrick but I hate it for McDowell after a career year for him and FRM

As for Harris, signing on as a crew chief for an HMS team, was a dream come true.
“When I moved to North Carolina in 2005, my goal was to become a crew chief for a top-caliber organization that could win races and compete for titles,” he revealed.
