A team as stacked with stars as Hendrick Motorsports and there are no egos? Sounds a little unrealistic, but it is real, and it is the case. There is nothing but good vibes (with an exception earlier in the season) in Rick Hendrick’s team, something which Alex Bowman and William Byron put out on display recently.

Ahead of the qualifying session for the Richmond weekend, Bowman posted a picture on Instagram with the youngest Hendrick driver. Although it’s quite clear that neither was Byron aware of his teammate behind him nor did Bowman miss the opportunity to photobomb properly.

The result is a hilarious photograph in which the Vegas winner is posing like a mad fan in front of the focused Atlanta winner as the caption suggests, Hey @williambyron can I get an autograph?”

The No.24 driver commented on this post, “I had no idea hahaha,” as Bowman replied, “oh trust me we know.” 

Alex Bowman on what makes Hendrick Motorsports “what it is”

In an interview earlier this year with Sports Illustrated, Alex Bowman had a simple, but apt answer about what is the key to Hendrick Motorsports’ success, both on and off the track.

“What makes Hendrick Motorsports what it is, is the depth of knowledge. So obviously, no one person or part or piece makes that. It’s the depth of knowledge and the depths of people,” he said.

Bowman added that this is something founder and owner Rick Hendrick has built over the course of his career.

And it is this knowledge, experience, and human resources that have allowed HMS to build “the best race cars” that eventually lead to the formation of “the best race teams.”
