Joey Logano might’ve been out of the limelight for a hot minute since his last top-5 finish in Richmond, but Kansas was his chance to shine again. Even though Tyler Reddick swooped in and stole the show at the eleventh hour in Kansas after the final restart, Logano played his cards right, rolling the dice with just two tires instead of the usual tetrad. This bold move not only had him finishing 5th and pocketing precious points but also winning the crowd’s admiration.

Well, now all eyes and ears are on Bristol’s buzz. Speaking of which, Kyle Petty has thrown his hat in the ring, sharing pearls of wisdom about the contenders ready to make noise at one of NASCAR’s loudest tracks weeks after setting off Bubba Wallace post regular-season finale.

Kyle Petty, never one to bite his tongue, has often ruffled feathers in the NASCAR world with his candid takes. Case in point: his recent spat with Bubba Wallace. Wallace opted out of interviews before the high-stakes Daytona race, citing nerves about his playoff position. In response to Petty?s jibe about drivers being paid to talk, Wallace made his stance clear at Darlington, quipping, “I am just here to fulfill my duties.”

Shifting gears to recent events, Petty, true to form, didn’t pull any punches while reflecting on Joey Logano?s 2023 run. He feels the Bristol race might still see either Ryan Blaney or Joey Logano steal the limelight: The Penske team has really not shown up. They have not shown up for the last of Joey got a fifth-place finish yesterday with a 20th-place car because of that last caution. He was running along; they had already buried him; the TV announcers as being out of the playoffs before. So I think this is the place where it?s short, it?s aggressive, it?s a very very physical place and I think Joey and Blaney rise to this occasion. This is the one they are going to have to grab to make a statement for them to say that they can be in the playoffs.”

That said, while no one can deny Joey Logano’s prowess behind the wheel, it?s not always smooth sailing, as evidenced at the Kansas racetrack. His strategy might’ve paid off then, but lightning doesn?t always strike twice. Even Logano conceded that Reddick had more pep in his step at Kansas.

Joey Logano, after burning rubber in Kansas, confessed that taking the trophy wasn’t the goal on his or his crew chief’s radar. Instead, they aimed to pocket as many points as possible and secure a respectable position. With Reddick zooming past him like a bat out of hell, almost 20 mph faster, Logano had a choice: play chicken and risk a crash or let him breeze by.

As reported on September 15th, he had remarked, “I wasn?t going to beat him anyway. Even if I did slow down the 45, he?s just gonna beat me in the next corner. So the only car I could beat was Jones. So I decided to race him and, honestly, just let him let the 45 go. I couldn?t do much about it anyway.”

While fans are itching to see sparks fly between Logano and?Kyle Busch on the track like before on the race track where the former has done fairly well previously, perhaps it’s time for Team Penske to step on the gas?from tightening their pit crew’s performance to boosting their car’s performance. Maybe then Kyle Petty’s foresight would come to fruition. What are your thoughts about the same?
