The Fords have made quite a resurgence over the Toyota-Chevrolet Cup Series supremacy in the last few months. And among all the Ford teams, RFK Racing perhaps stands out the most as they are the only Fords to be in the playoff contention besides Team Penske. But RFK Racing’s credit overrules Team Penske as Brad Keselowski has both his cars in the playoff rumble and Roger Penske does not.
However, Brad Keselowski’s hopes of finishing 1-2 at Talladega flickered away when he made a hard two-point contact on lap 163. Although not happy about his own run, Brad Keselowski was impressed by an SHR Truck Series part-timer’s performance at Talladega Superspeedway, mostly because it came with the aid of his brother as the spotter.

If you were in the audience’s seat on Sunday, the driving prowess of this 24-year-old Front Row Motorsports speedster must have surely stolen your attention. In just four Cup starts, Riley Herbst made his career-best finish of a P9, and that too at the infamous tri-oval track of Talladega.
This was the second top-10 finish made by Riley Herbst, the first being a 10th-place finish for Rick Ware Racing at the season’s opener race at Daytona. Fast forward to today, the show that the #35 pilot put up, along with the expert guidance of spotter Brian Keselowski, has birthed quite a discussion in the arena of NASCAR regarding the future prospects that this young man holds. But Brad Keselowski gave all credit to his brother Brian and sidelined Riley Herbst’s talent.
Moments after the race, Brad tweeted, “I heard it was all the spotter ????@KeselowskiBrian”

Insiders might wonder if it was a rival Ford team that kept Brad from acknowledging Riley Herbst’s performance. But that is up for speculation. Despite a dull day for Brad Keselowski, he did not sound too disappointed as he pledged to come back stronger at Charlotte ROVAL next week. According to him, contacts were a part of the game and, hence, almost unavoidable.

The RFK Racing owner’s playoff contention went down into ruins as he was pushing Carson Hocevar through the front stretch. They made contact, which chipped off the left-rear quarter panel of Hocevar’s number 42 Chevrolet, which in turn, triggered a multi-car crash. Unfortunately, that move backfired on Brad Keselowski.
Hocevar veered into the pack, nudging Ty Gibbs and Austin Dillon, who then spun out and made a straight hit into the track’s outside safety barriers. Amidst the commotion and smoke, Dillon’s car caught Brad Keselowski’s #6 Ford and as a result, Keselowski hit the inside wall once and spun out towards the outside wall. His car became airborne for a few seconds before the aerodynamic roof flaps weighted the car down on the ground.
While talking to the Frontstretch reporters, Keselowski said, “Got shuffled there, few laps before the incident. I was trying to claw our way back in the third lane. The 42 pulled up in front of me and I just gave him a push and it kind of spun out of him. It’s unfortunate, it’s just part of the deal.”
