The past few weeks have been very tough for NASCAR Truck Series driver Stephen Mallozzi. He is just 22 years old, but there has been a lot going on for him lately. One would think when his NASCAR career was just taking big turns, life had other plans. So far, he has plied his trade in the Truck Series, making his debut last year with Reaume Brothers Racing.
Stephen’s father is one of the most important figures in his racing career. His father was diagnosed with stage four non-small cell terminal lung cancer. It got so bad that doctors even predicted he had six months to live. Nevertheless, Mallozzi’s father has defied expectations and still lives to this day. Young Stephen is right with him all the way and had no qualms about halting his budding NASCAR career.

The NASCAR Truck Series driver finally has some good news on his father’s health
In a recent Tweet, Stephen Mallozzi revealed that his father’s latest scans showed positive signs. As a response to the good news, both father and son opted to head to a local food joint to celebrate together. Of course, the Mallozzi patriarch is not out of the woods just yet and has a long road of recovery ahead of him. However, the family can revel in the small victories as they get them.
Stephen knew where his priorities lay and taking a sabbatical from racing was the right choice. Naturally, anybody would want to spend time with their family and be there for them during their tough battles. The news also comes as a massive relief for the family, because last month, things were not looking so good.

It is well known that a rookie and part-time driver together isn’t a good place to be for every driver. So the same applied for Mallozzi, as he was forced to sell his personal car to drum up funds to race at Gateway Motorsports Park, last month. Earlier this year, he was seen driving to the Martinsville Speedway at seven in the morning for the race. As an up and coming part-time driver, he cannot exactly rely on his team for transport. Additionally, he often works at Outback Steakhouse to supplement his income.
