It was a race that was nothing less than a redemption. Trackhouse Racing driver, Ross Chastain, pranced on the racetrack after a chaotic restart in Stage 2. The #1 Chevrolet driver claimed his first title of the season in the music city of Nashville. The driver held off Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr and Denny Hamlin and took the chequered.

The Ally 400 surely belonged to the polesitter, but Chastain needed that win. Not only to make himself eligible for the Playoffs, but give a befitting reply to all who had questioned his racing abilities. And he did that at the post-race interview with NBC.

After a terrible race at Darlington where he wrecked Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson in order to maintain his lead, Ross Chastain was at the receiving end of ruthless criticism. Even Rick Hendrick, the team owner of Hendrick Motorsports had exclaimed, I don’t care if he’s driving a Chevrolet if he wrecks our cars. I don’t care. I’ve told Chevrolet that. If you wreck us, you’re going to get it back. If you don’t do it, they’ll run all over you.”

And after winning the Ally 400, Ross Chastain was set to send out the befitting reply to all. The post-race interview of the victor is what struck the most among the audience, something that they have missed since FOX started its coverage at the beginning of the season.

It all happened when NASCAR journalist Jeff Gluck posted on Twitter, “Ross Chastain talking on the NBC postrace show about the blowback he’s gotten. In part he says: “When Mr. Hendrick criticizes publicly, it’s tough. He’s *the* guy and everybody knows what he says goes.” Says Hendrick told him Ross will win again, just stop crashing his cars.”

FOX has been a long associate of NASCAR and has sporadically covered the races. But in the present times, it seems that the giant is losing its popularity, as fans often complained about its poor telecasting style. FOX’s telecasting of the pre-race show was often botched with advertisements and an abrupt cutaway from the race. And to add to the woes of the audience, the post-race interviews were also generally neglected and were often accused of selling short to their audience.

But peace at last because fans are ready to show their newfound allegiance. The interview was surely a new addition for NASCAR enthusiasts, as FOX has already completed its season and ceded over its duty to NBC. While fans were delighted to listen to Chastain’s interview after a deserving win, they did not fail to compare the media houses and their approaches to the sport.

Many netizens commented, “I’ll say this… they said it will be 30 minutes of coverage and we are past that and they have more stuff coming they said for this coverage so definitely W’s by NBC.”

“Fox take notes cause NBCs coverage is leaps and bounds better than fox.”

“Honestly NBC in one race has done so much more than Fox did all season. I missed post-race coverage. Just wish they had victory lane interviews over front stretch. Good stuff NBC.”

With just one race, NBC has garnered more fans for its channel. With its new approach, the media house is paving the way and reasserting the way in its broadcasting style. With the rest of the races under their rights, it is to be seen how the channel adheres to the demands of the fans and provides all-rounded broadcasting of the race.
