Remember when Christopher Bell called out Joe Gibbs for disliking dirt track racing? That surely created a lot of uproar among the NASCAR Twitterverse. However, soon, Bell backtracked on his comments by stating that his words were misinterpreted and actually Gibbs is just concerned about his drivers’ safety in the dirt racing formats. However, Bell’s latter statements were not received well by NASCAR fans. And some Twitter users even felt that the Joe Gibbs Racing ‘PR Guy’ might have asked Bell to clear the air. Whether it was as a self-realization or a PR-forced statement, Christopher Bell definitely took a U-turn on his initial remarks about Joe Gibbs limiting his drivers from dirt or open-wheel racing.

And now, amidst the news of Chase Elliott’s hospitalization due to his snowboarding accident, Bell has decided to ‘clear the air’ further by applauding his boss for limiting JGR drivers’ activities.

When Fox Sports reporter Bob Pockrass asked Bell to weigh in on his views on the risk of recreational activities for drivers, Bell said, “It’s all a trade-off. This is a perfect example of why Coach [Gibbs] is protective over his drivers because he values us and wants us to be healthy and continue to perform at this level. You have to talk about risk vs. reward.”

Seems like Christopher Bell is a quick learner. And now, he has finally learned the real reason behind Joe Gibbs restricting his drivers from indulging in risky recreational activities.

What did Christopher Bell exactly say in his previous comments?

Earlier in February 2023, Christopher Bell talked about his love for dirt racing and his future plans of driving in the format. While explaining how much he loves Chili Bowl, Bell revealed that for the time being, he wouldn’t be involved in dirt track racing.

Talking to David Gravel, he said, “Joe Gibbs has been extremely vocal about his–I don’t want to use the word hatred–but it’s pretty close to hatred towards dirt track racing. He does not love dirt track racing or open-wheel racing at all.”
