The 2023 season for Tyler Reddick was anything but predictable. He was unstoppable on road courses, he stormed through to the playoffs, and he even achieved a career-best finish despite changing teams and replacing Kurt Busch at 23XI Racing. After the Michael Jordan-owned organization purchased the remaining terms of Reddick’s prior contract with RCR, Reddick began his 2023 campaign under shaky circumstances.

His 39th-place DNF at the Daytona 500 on his debut set a difficult tone for the upcoming season. But Reddick bounced back within a month, winning in a thrilling triple-overtime showdown at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) to record his first victory of the season. The 28-year-old notched up an impressive 16 top-10 finishes and placed sixth in the championship standings. But there were periods in June and July when he did not finish higher than 27th in five races in a row, highlighting inconsistent performance that ultimately hurt his Championship 4 chances.

The two-time Xfinity Series champion faced difficulties that put his resilience and commitment to the test. NASCAR fined the #45 team for using unapproved ballasts during inspection, deducting 10 owner and driver points. Despite these frustrations, Reddick persisted in his attempt to triumph, working hard to get past challenges and put up reliable performances on the track.

NASCAR analysts Jordan Bianchi and Jeff Gluck examined Reddick’s season in the newest episode of ‘The Teardown,’ pointing out the team’s potential as well as its proneness to errors. When considering Reddick’s performance, Bianchi noted, “Reddick’s issue last year was, when you’ve got potentially winning race cars not winning races and not even that necessarily. Not finishing in the top five, not finishing in the top 10. They threw a ton of points away last year. They had a very, very good first year with 23XI racing. That said, it could have been even better.”

As the conversation carried on, Gluck was quick to address, “I think he’s still building but I feel like pretty confident that he’s going to be… just sort of a regular contender for quite a while…I don’t know… [In] some years they might put it all together he might you know, win a championship maybe or get close. But I feel like, even at a minimum, he’s the kind of guy that gets the most out of the car, and if they can clean stuff up… they will just sort of be there and be sort of a constant presence.”

To sum it up, the veteran reporter declared, “I think he’s sort of established himself as someone who is going to be around.”

Tyler Reddick saw a statistical breakthrough in 2023, recording career-high numbers in top tens (16) and top fives (10). Additionally, his three straight top-10 playoff finishes, in particular, demonstrated his tenacity. Nevertheless, a string of unsatisfactory race results stood in sharp contrast to his outstanding runs.

His recent remarks showcase his increasing self-confidence and his constant evolution as a driver inside the 23XI team.“I still race as hard as I always have, but it’s been nice to have the cars as good as they are to where I can think twice about taking a risky choice or making a risky decision on a restart or battling for position.” Reddick stated in a recent statement on NASCAR’s official website.
