NASCAR’s return to North Wilkesboro Speedway turned out to be a successful one. With Kyle Larson triumphing in the All-Star Race on Sunday, it resulted in a good watch altogether. That being said, the runner-up Bubba Wallace suffered from an unexpected incident just after the race. Furthermore, his unexpected act on live telecast has somehow ended up bringing Chase Elliott under scrutiny.

Despite a poor start to the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season, Wallace has managed well to crawl his way back up. In fact, his performance on Sunday was a testament to his improvement. However, it has all gone down the drain with his post-race gesture.

Bubba Wallace becomes the center of attention after his post-race gesture at North Wilkesboro Speedway

It is no secret how Wallace has always been the expressive character he is. While this approach has backfired at times, Wallace prefers to stay the same. In fact, after the Truck Series race at the North Wilkesboro Speedway, his patience was tested. Despite many booing him, the 23XI Racing driver did not react or pay heed to it.

However, an incident took place just after the race on Sunday, which has surprised many. An unknown personality somehow managed to hack into the #23’s radio and had an unpleasant message for him. The message said, “Go back to where you came from you a******. You’re not wanted in NASCAR,”

While it is disgraceful for anyone to do it, NASCAR officials are diving deep into the scandal to catch the guilty personnel. However, that isn’t how Wallace ended his night in North Carolina. Despite having an amazing run on the track, the Alabama-born driver was caught making an offensive gesture.

In an unexpected event, Wallace was shown fleeting his middle finger to the camera during a post-race interview. While it is likely that it was directed at his critics, the act has stunned the NASCAR community. In fact, fans have been left fuming witnessing it live.

Without a doubt, Bubba Wallace is a household name in the NASCAR community. With many bashing him for the act after the All-Star race, his faithful fans have linked it to the Chase Elliott incident in 2020.

It was in Darlington that Kyle Busch spun Elliott which infuriated the Hendrick Motorsports driver. In fact, to vent out his frustration, he showed his disapproval of Busch by showing Rowdy the middle finger. Because Elliott escaped scrutiny then, many have argued why Wallace should face a different outcome. Interestingly, some even pointed out the hypocrisy on Twitter.

“The people that hated Bubba Wallace’s middle finger are the same ones that loved when Chase Elliott did it.”

“People crying about Bubba Wallace middle finger. Chase Elliott middle finger. Not enough cautions. Too many cautions. Kinda makes me realize most nascar fans absolutely stink. I love ALL the drama, give us more middle fingers and more fights. I hate Bubba but the bird is funny.”

“They literally use Chase Elliott flipping of Kyle Busch in promos when the sport goes to Darlington…”

Having said that, one Elliott fan tried to justify the difference between the two incidents. He said, “Context – Chase Elliott flipped off a driver who just wrecked him. Something that a driver does to another driver every single weekend. Bubba Wallace flipped off the camera for all the fans at home. Big difference.”

One of the fans even took the effort to link an article highlighting the Elliott incident and said, “Remember this?”
