23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports have launched an all-out war with the officials of NASCAR. The two teams that stood up against the governing body have now filed a lawsuit against the series owners. The main reason behind the lawsuit is the unfair charter deal that NASCAR offered them, but they refused to sign. Because of not being a part of the charter agreement, both teams will be losing out on a lot of money, and the suit is to prevent that from happening.
Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin led the antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR, which was filed in the Western District of North Carolina in Charlotte. According to the two teams’s new charter system, it limits competition by unfairly binding teams to the series, its tracks, and its suppliers. For a company like 23XI Racing, which has invested quite a lot of money into its infrastructure for sport recently, this seems like an unfair deal. While Michael Jordan has been at the forefront of the discussions, this time it was Denny Hamlin who raised his voice.

With only 2 out of 15 teams deciding to not sign the charter, NASCAR did not have a reason to renegotiate the terms. But now that there is a lawsuit in place, the governing body has no option left. Many media houses want to get to the bottom of the situation, and while trying to do so, one of them tried to push their own agenda. 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports called in Jeffrey Kessler, who was behind the McNeil vs. NFL case, which helped his clients establish free agency in the NFL.
Now that the teams have a good attorney, they have put their faith in him. In a recent interview, Denny Hamlin was asked for details about the situation. Kessler stepped in and answered the questions. When the reporter realized that they couldn’t get the teams to say what they wanted. They made edits in the interview. Denny Hamlin saw the final interview and was not happy about how the channel tailored the video to match their agenda.
While censorship is a big topic in today’s media world,
Channel 90 might be the poster child. An interview didn’t go the way they hoped after our attorney continued to state fact after fact even tho they tried their best to refute, they have since edited/deleted that interview…— Denny Hamlin (@dennyhamlin) October 3, 2024
This is when Hamlin couldn’t take more of it, and he decided to put up a post on X, calling them out. On Denny Hamlin’s official X page, he stated, “While censorship is a big topic in today’s media world, Channel 90 might be the poster child. An interview didn’t go the way they hoped after our attorney continued to state fact after fact even though they tried their best to refute. They have since edited/deleted that interview off of their channels because the narrative doesn’t fit their beliefs. If that doesn’t convince you of the bias, then nothing will.”
It’s obvious that Denny Hamlin would get annoyed looking at the situation. Especially when they filed a lawsuit for unjust practices. However, this is not the only instance that made the Joe Gibbs Racing star react, as NASCAR decided to make changes to the cars for Talladega, and the No. 11 driver is not impressed.

With the next race being at the Talladega Superspeedway, NASCAR wants to get around the aerodynamic issue of the cars. This season itself saw three cars flip upside down and the most recent one was Corey LaJoie’s car at the Michigan International Speedway. To avoid this issue, NASCAR will be implementing some changes to the car’s roof, and its safe to say that not many drivers like the design,

Denny Hamlin spoke about the changes on his podcast, where he said, “For one, it looks like a**. And second, it hurts visibility… The problem is that we take tear-offs off of our front windshield. And superspeedways are one of the worst tracks for debris on the front windshield. So, we need to get those tear-offs off.” Luckily NASCAR decided to only make changes on the roof, compared to their earlier idea of also including a ‘sharkfin spoiler’ that extended to the windshield.
Talladega will be a crucial race where Denny Hamlin has performed quite well over the last few years. Adding to the fact that he scored top 10s during the playoffs in the last 5 years on the track, he also managed to win there in 2020. Hamlin has a lot on his plate at the moment, with the playoffs and the lawsuit and the upcoming race might just help him relieve some stress. With that said, do you think that Denny Hamlin will be able to break his 19-race winless streak next weekend? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
