Did you know that Dale Earnhardt Jr, the two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series champion, absolutely loves his steak? A good steak is often enjoyed as-is or maybe with some blue cheese butter or maybe some hollandaise. But what if you came to know that Dale Earnhardt Jr loved store-bought sauces with his steak? Quite a sacrilege, won’t you agree?

After having a hilarious discussion with Mike Davis about one of Junior’s friends ordering a “medium-plus” steak at Pocono, Dale lost his mind when his friend demanded something even more bizarre as they went out to dinner at a reputed steakhouse in Indianapolis, weeks later.

A wise man once said you don’t mess with the person who handles your food. However, Junior’s friend and NBC statistics guy, Jimmy, tried to attempt the same. Thankfully, things did not go southwards for Jimmy. But the entire episode was enough to make you laugh out loud. When Dale Earnhardt Jr talked about his friend’s steakhouse shenanigans in his podcast, Mike Davis couldn’t hold back his amusement either.

A Friday night calls for a tender steak dinner. Hence, the NASCAR Analyst for NBC and his friends went to St. Elmo Steak House for a feast. However, the weekend crowd stood in their way of booking a table of eight at the steakhouse of repute. Therefore, the team of eight invaded Harry & Izzy’s next door.

Almost all of them ordered their medium plus steaks. As they were waiting impatiently for their food, Jimmy decided to trick the waitress and said that he wanted a medium minus steak. It was time for Dale Junior to get startled again.

Medium minus? What is that? Probably the former HMS driver had the same question in his mind. But he realized that it was just meant to be a joke. Junior explained to Mike Davis, “Jimmy said, I want a medium minus. And she said, there’s no such thing, and we tried to trick her. But the waitress was all into us. She said, so you mean a medium rare plus?”

Medium rare plus is a steak that is 10 degrees warmer than a medium one, but not medium well. After having enjoyed his medium plus steak on Friday night, the NASCAR Hall of Famer came to a conclusion. He declared, “Here’s where I stand on this. I wanna admit there’s such a thing as a medium plus, but it’s all in the higher-end steak houses.”

Let’s take Dale Junior to the best steakhouse in the world and get him a tender piece of his newly found “medium plus” steak. Although that is one of the best meals one can get on a night out, he would probably feel disappointed about something. And that too, for a weird reason.

He admitted in one of his recent tweets, “I love a great steak. Take me to the best steakhouse ever and put the best steak in the world in front of me. I’m gonna eat it and love it.”

“But there is a side of me that will be disappointed, that there is no A1 as part of this meal,” he added.

A store-bought, tomato-based sauce on something as holy as steak! Mike Davis did not approve. The Dale Jr Download co-host argued, “I don’t know if I could go that far though, you know…”

Next time Dale Earnhardt Jr goes steak-hunting, maybe he will carry a bottle of A1 sauce with him. Nobody wants to remain disappointed after having a fillet of steak for dinner, right? But why this obsession with A1 sauce?

“A1 on a steak is like barbecue sauce on ribs! It’s like they go together!” Junior cried out in desperation.
