Sunday’s Quaker State 400 race at Atlanta was yet another race marred by unprecedented rainfall. Some fans have even gone to the extent of jotting down racing theories that could possibly be causing this. On one hand, some fans are coming up with the Vortex Theory, and other fans are saying scheduling the race before the evening may help avoid the rain. There are, of course, mixed opinions about things like this. While some fans are dismayed that the traditional timing of the race was changed, a huge majority of fans have heaved a sigh of relief.

The Sunday NASCAR race garnered a viewership of 2.56 million in the USA. Naturally, it became the most-viewed sporting telecast of that weekend. This overwhelming viewership definitely created history for NASCAR and Atlanta. Meanwhile, fans have already found a logical reason behind this impressive viewership. They feel their daily lifestyle has in a way contributed to this viewership blowup.

No matter how many experts are involved, it is always the fan’s perspective that will provide the best insight. This Sunday’s viewership boost was a great example. Fans have taken to social media to express why it was easier for them to watch the match on Sunday evening than it usually was. The change in race timing was an experiment made by NASCAR, and it definitely succeeded. As a NASCAR fan posted on Reddit regarding the boosted viewership, its comments were flooded with fans’ demands to keep hosting races at this exact time.

Most of the comments were mostly about how keeping the race in the evening made sure that it did not come in the way of their family time. As one fan wrote, This feels like we could be seeing the seeds that will lead to “Summer Sunday Night NASCAR” In the next few years,” comments like “I’m all for it. Let me get done what I need to get done during the day and spend my Sunday evening watching the race” filled the comment boxes.
