While Richard Childress grapples with the Busch-Stenhouse Jr fiasco, a new development has emerged on his family front. Ty Dillon flagged off the 2024 season, competing full-time for Rackley WAR in the Craftsman Truck Series. He also clinched a lone Top-ten result in Darlington last week. But now Childress’ grandson will be gearing up for a comeback to the Cup Series under a novel team owned by Floyd Mayweather.
Floyd Mayweather rebrands his NASCAR team
The Money Team Racing saw the light of day in 2022 when Floyd Mayweather announced a partial Cup schedule. The professional boxer had scored 50 victories in the ring and accordingly rolled out the No. 50 car for driver Kraz Grala. The boxer-turned-team owner has Cup plans for 2024 as well, as a major announcement recently came out.

This marks another instance in Dillon’s long list of team shuffles. He has bounced around with eight different Cup Series teams, beginning with his grandfather’s RCR. Dillon spent 2021 driving part-time for Gaunt Brothers Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing, and Our Motorsports (all in Cup) and also Jordan Anderson Racing (in the NASCAR Xfinity Series). That year, he made a reference that he ran roughly half the car numbers on pit road, and this took a toll on his confidence to win.

But coming under Floyd Mayweather’s banner might do him some good. The professional boxer made clear his ambitious intentions when he launched the Cup team in 2022. “I love fast cars and I love to compete. I know NASCAR will not be easy, but anything easy isn’t worth doing to me,” Mayweather said in a release provided by the team.
Let us wait and see how Ty Dillon fares in the Coca-Cola 600, one of NASCAR’s crown jewel races.
