Hailie Deegan's NASCAR exit—Did she get a fair shot, or was she doomed from the start?

After Hailie Deegan, the full-time driver of the #15 car, was replaced by Joey Logano for the Chicago Street Race, many fans started wondering what the team had planned for her. So far, as is widely known, the partnership between Deegan and AM Racing has not worked out, as she had her best finish so far at P12. This is in contrast to Logano’s P8 finish in his first Xfinity race since 2019. Therefore, the recent decision by the team becomes obvious.

Hailie Deegan announced today that she is parting ways with AM Racing as their goals no longer align. The decision is effective immediately. However, no official announcement has been made regarding her replacement for the upcoming races. Deegan put up a post on her X profile to make the announcement, and along with a long, heartfelt message, she also removed AM Racing from her social media profiles. This was shared by Bob Pockrass, and the news has already begun to spread like wildfire. For now, Deegan’s future in the Xfinity Series remains uncertain as she is being scrutinized and criticized for her performance.

In her parting message, Deegan stated, “Beginning this season, I had a lot of excitement and hope about taking my next step in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. It’s something I’ve been working towards for years and always dreamt about. I worked hard to prepare for this season after the team pursued me to drive their car. Unfortunately, it has not turned out the way that I expected. There are always several reasons within a race team as to why things do or do not work, but sadly, our goals no longer align. With that being said, myself and AM Racing will be parting ways.”

Though she must have expected a touching goodbye, her performance made many fans send her off with criticism. The comment section of Pockrass’ post started getting flooded with fans questioning her competitiveness.

Hailie Deegan put on blast by fans

After having a tough time in the Xfinity Series, many fans have shared their thoughts on the female driver, with some believing that she should ‘Find Another Motorsport‘. Along with this, many other fans voiced their views about Deegan’s departure, while discussing her performance. When one fan said, “She should either go back to ARCA or find another motorsport,” they made it clear that they were not fans of her performance in the Xfinity series.

One user suggested that Deegan should leverage her significant sponsorship backing to secure a few races with Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR). However, the fan predicted that even with a better team, she would still perform poorly, finishing around 20th place and potentially ending her racing career. The comment read, “Just use her massive sponsorship money and race once or twice with JGR. Although she’ll still finish 20th and never race again.”

“She is truly the only one to know the whole story. However, we as fans were unfortunate to watch most of it,” was what one fan said after hearing the news of her departure. The fan took what seemed like a jibe at the driver, expressing their disbelief at her string of bad performances.

In Bob Pockrass’s post, the journalist mentioned, “Hailie Deegan has parted ways with AM Racing.” However, a fan corrected his headline, writing, “I think they parted with her.” This fan hinted at how Deegan’s inability to show competitiveness in the series could not have called for any other decision to take place.

“In order to get back to being competitive, you must first actually be competitive,” said one X user who thought that Deegan had not been competitive all season. With the best finish of P12 all season, many expected more from her.
