Despite winning the SRX Series race at South Boston, something else eclipsed the mind of Tony Stewart. The former NASCAR driver wasn’t as happy about his win as he was frustrated with what happened in the race.

And what happened in the race, to put it simply, or to put it in Stewart’s words, was unacceptable.

“I’m so excited and honored to race with the group of guys we race with, but some of them..there’s some habits they have from other divisions that aren’t acceptable at tour track races,” Stewart said in a post-race interview.

He described that they need to have a mindset and understand that if they keep tearing up their cars, they’ll soon run out of them simply because they don’t have the kind of manpower in the crew to fix them.

He described how racecar drivers can race hard and race hard for the win, but there’s “gotta be a better way” to do so than what was on display at South Boston.

So it’s only fair that Tony Stewart took it upon himself to correct the things that are going wrong, to make the necessary recalibration in other drivers’ minds. And his way of doing so? A dad talk.

“I’m gonna give them the dad talk next week,” he added.
