This season just keeps getting better. The statement before is as true for racing on the track as it is for rivalries off track. And the best rivalries are those that emerge from on-track incidents and carry forward to beyond races. Perhaps that’s the bill that the brewing rivalry between Ross Chastain and Denny Hamlin fits in.

In case you didn’t know, which is highly unlikely, Chastain and Hamlin had a bit of an episode during the race at Gateway, for which the Trackhouse Racing driver was deemed guilty by the jury.

The driver also apologized for his action as he accepted the reactions from the Joe Gibbs Racing driver.

However, it seems that Chastain isn’t done yet. Or at least he’s not losing the edge he has in his driving style.

Ahead of NASCAR’s return to Sonoma Raceway this weekend, Chastain revealed that he did have a talk with Denny Hamlin, but at the same time, his intentions on track are unchanged. He still wants to go fast. And he still wants to win, even if he ends up hurting the feelings of his rivals.

Ross Chastain isn’t afraid to hurt Denny Hamlin’s feelings on the track

“I’ve talked to all parties involved and yeah, I believe I should be in this car and I believe that I did make a mistake and I hit Denny too hard,” Chastain said ahead of the Cup Series race at Sonoma Raceway.

The Trackhouse Racing driver insisted that he isn’t “the first guy” to be in the situation that he is in right now. Although Chastain admitted that he hit Hamlin, “way too hard,” and it’s something he wishes wouldn’t have happened.

Having said that, Ross Chastain revealed that they had “a good conversation”, so from this point on, “whatever happens, happens.”

“I’m here to go fast and I feel like the best way that I can hurt their feelings more is to take our Worldwide Express car and just go fast,” he added.
