The podcast episode, recorded during a candid conversation, saw McDowell reflect on his team’s performance and aspirations for the upcoming playoff rounds. When the three-time Daytona 500 winner asked McDowell, “It’s shaping up to be pretty awesome to see, I think it’s going to be. You know how you’ve got two stress-free weeks when normally, I mean, these would be the two most pressure situation weeks that you would have in your career. I mean, it really would be. But now you know you guys get to focus on the round of 16, what? How do you feel like the beginning of the playoffs is going to shape up for y’all?”

“Well, you know, I think that throw out more statistics if last year we’d have made it to the next round just based on how we ran those races. So I feel like we have a good baseline. You know, last year doesn’t always apply to this year, but I feel like we have enough speed to execute and put ourselves at least in a fighting position. What’s really interesting is the next round, throw Talladega in, the Roville in the right.” the Indy 500 winner stated.

Michael Mcdowell further added, “We’re going to really make people upset if we go 2 rounds, right? And so, I mean, we know who we are. We know what we can and can’t do, right And we’re pushing to be a top team. But the sit here and say, yeah, we’re going to go championship for, we’re going to win this whole deal would be ludicrous. So I’m, I’m just not wired like that. But I think that we can get through the first round and probably the second, depending on how Talladega goes.”

The race’s defining moment unfurled as McDowell showcased his prowess, a seasoned racer with an unwavering drive to conquer. Lapping up 54 of the 82 laps, he was the true master of his destiny. His tenacity was evident as he skillfully maneuvered past pole winner Daniel Suarez early in the race and never looked back.
