The wait is finally coming to an end. In just a few days, NASCAR is on the verge of creating history. The stock cars are ready to burn rubber on the streets of Chicago at breakneck speeds, as NASCAR inaugurates street racing for the first time in its 75 years of history.

The preparations to host the celebrity drivers along with their teams have gone into full-fledged mode. And as a part of the honor of hosting NASCAR and commemorating its rich legacy, The Street Race’s primary sponsor, McDonald’s, announced a new meal. But it seems that not everyone is pleased about this fact, and many have expressed it on social media.

The Chicago Street Race is set to transform the sports city, with Grant Park and Lake Michigan acting as the backdrop for the race. The drivers are set to race through the closed-off streets, creating a spectacle that has only been seen in movies. The authorities expect a footfall of a whopping 100,000 that could generate up to $3 million as tax revenue for the city.

As a part of the grand celebrations, the Golden Arches, who are also the primary sponsors of 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace, announced a new meal set, simply named “Bubba Wallace Meal.” Regarding the availability of the meal, the fast-food giants revealed the Bubba Wallace meal would be on sale from June 25th. The $8 meal includes a 10-piece order of Chicken McNuggets, medium fries, and a medium Dr. Pepper.

But the announcement did not sit well with NASCAR enthusiasts, owing to Wallace’s past incident of wrecking and shoving Kyle Larson at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After the infamous incident, fans had even directed their discontent toward Wallace’s sponsor McDonald’s.

Among the whirlwind of backlash that Wallace faced, fans had implored the food chain to drop their support for the driver. An online petition was also issued to request the brand to drop its sponsorship but it failed to achieve its target. Nevertheless, the brand has continued to sponsor the driver.

However, there were a number of fans who shared their excitement at the announcement as well. Many others seemed disappointed that it would be available only in and around Chicago. But given the hype, McD outlets are likely to attract a barrage of fans for the meal. In terms of revenue, McD’s marketing team might just have hit the mark once again.
