The fate seems to hang by a fine thread as another door of opportunity shuts for Matt DiBenedetto. The driver who has yet to find a team for the 2024 season has found himself in another pickle that seems to cast gray clouds over his racing future. After bidding his farewell to Rackley W.A.R. Racing in the 2023 season, the driver was left without a seat.
Although several teams were linked with DiBenedetto, all the hopes seemed to fall apart. The recent teams that were caught up in the speculation were AM Racing and DGM Racing. While Hailie Deegan’s Xfinity Racing team did not announce any venturing with the driver, DGM Racing, on the other hand, delivered its final verdict with their new announcement.

It was just a few days ago that the former Cup Series driver teased the NASCAR community by dropping a ‘pen emoji’. The racing fandom was left contemplating whether the driver had joined forces with a racing team, reinforcing his assertion in his career update of “not retiring.” However, it was apparent that DiBenedetto failed to reach a conclusive discussion with DGM Racing.
DGM Racing announced on Thursday that veteran driver Josh Bilicki would be returning to the team and partially piloting the #92 Chevrolet for the 2024 season. The driver, who is on the verge of reaching his 200th NASCAR start, is set to strap himself into the car for the season-opening race at Daytona. Bilicki, in the 2023 season, apart from being a regular entrant in the Cup Series, had also driven the #91 Chevrolet partially in the Xfinity Series.

After an impressive year, the team was elated to announce the veteran’s return to the team for the 2024 season. In an official statement released by the team, Mario Gosselin, the team owner, expressed, “We are thrilled to have Josh Bilicki back with us in 2024! He’s a very talented and skilled racer, as well as a great person to be around. His attitude and drive to succeed makes him a great fit for our family-owned team. I am really looking forward to building on our momentum and achieving more together this year.”

The driver, on the other hand, divulged, “Driving for DGM Racing and the Gosselin family over the last two years has really been a highlight of my NASCAR career. Last year, we found ourselves consistently racing with teams triple our size. The team puts everything they have back into the program and no one is afraid of hard work, and I believe the results they achieved last year showcases that. I’m proud to go into the 2024 season calling DGM Racing my ‘home’ and can’t wait to get to Daytona.”
While Josh Bilicki has sealed his fate after bagging a seat for the 2024 season, the question that remains unanswered is what awaits Matt DiBenedetto. The news of his signing with AM Racing to fill the second available seat remains a mystery to the racing world.
