You don’t need a judicial expert to rule that NASCAR racing this weekend, a weekend on which Easter is falling, is a bad idea. So bad that it has enraged a lot of fans, icons, and all those involved with the sport.
Rodney Childers, the crew chief of driver Kevin Harvick, recently expressed his surprise to the fact that there will be a race on an Easter weekend this time around.
He tweeted, “Been racing 35 years.. And have never ever raced on Easter Sunday or been away from my family on such a great day..It’s exceptional to see a group making the best out of it, and reminding us family is the most important thing we do!”

Here’s how some NASCAR fans reacted to Childer’s tweet, which only goes to prove how even the fans aren’t onboard with this decision.
You would think Saturday night would have been a better option. Not a fan of racing on Easter Sunday. Happy Easter & Good luck Sunday @RodneyChilders4 👏👏👏👏

I'm not a fan of racing on Easter Sunday. Teams and fans should be focused on time with their families. Having said that, good luck on Sunday, Sir.😎👍🏁🏆

Dale Earnhardt Jr rubbishes the idea of NASCAR racing on Easter
In a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Dale Earnhardt Jr was asked for his thoughts on the fact that there is a race this Easter weekend. “I think we need Easter Sunday off. We need to be home with our families, hiding easter eggs in the yard with our kids,” he said.
“Its tradition.”

The NASCAR Hall of Famer then went on to add that its NASCAR’s own fault that they find themselves in a position in which they have to listen to TV networks and bend to their demand. Because it is the networks that dictate everything, and as a result, everyone in the sport.
“I think TV runs the show, man. TV Networks decide when we’re racing, what time of day we’re racing. They pay NASCAR enough money that they have that authority,” Dale Jr. added. “NASCAR really has to be malleable and move and mold whichever direction the networks want to go.”
