On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series race at the Phoenix Raceway wrapped up. Along the way, Team Penske driver Joey Logano was crowned as the champion for the second time in his career. However, there was another storyline playing out after the race. To be exact, it was the end of an era, as Kyle Busch completed his final race as a Joe Gibbs Racing driver. Next year, he is starting a brand new chapter with Richard Childress Racing, with new teammate Austin Dillon.

Recently, Dillon spoke about how his and Busch’s relationship might play out. He said, “I think we’re just getting to know each other. Kind of tapping into that a little bit. Our wives, they did the show together at one point, so that was cool. I think we’re probably going to be spending a lot of time in the off season around each other at the shop. We got some things planned, to maybe put a race together with the WRL in COTA, so we might be going out to do that.”

Of course, Busch’s arrival means that Kyle Busch Motorsports will be associated with RCR. In other words, it is pretty much a package deal, and Dillon is pretty excited at the prospect of the tie-up. This is because he will be hoping to convince his new teammate to give him a chance to drive the truck.

Dillon continued, “I think that if we get a race of two, that would be cool. We’ll see what events are open on the schedule. I’d love to drive it – who wouldn’t – those are the best trucks out there. My old crew chief, we had pretty good success over there. So I’d love to work with KBM, Stockman, all those guys,”
