Balancing a career with additional family responsibilities can often become an enormous task; especially for drivers who manage various fronts together. Chase Briscoe has been the ultimate Dirt racing favorite for years now. However, this year is different. Even though Joe Gibbs has finally allowed its drivers to race on other fronts, Briscoe could not enjoy the benefits of the same.
Most people know Briscoe as someone who does not shy away from making comments. And this time, it seems, he has apprehensions about his teammates. Here’s what he had to say about his predictions for the Chili Bowl and his absence from it.

It has become almost a ritual for Briscoe to start his racing season in Tulsa Oklahoma, with the Chili Bowl Nationals. At least that has been the norm since 2015. The week-long midget car racing spectacle is held annually at Tulsa’s SageNet Center. This usually transforms the venue into a temporary quarter-mile dirt track. The best thing is the diversity that attracts over 350 competitors from around the globe. Renowned as one of the most demanding events in motorsports, it showcases top talent.
While Briscoe has honored this tradition for over a decade, this year marks a notable break. His family grew to five after welcoming twins Cooper Banks and Collins Ivy on October 8, 2024. Therefore, leaving home would not be straightforward with new kids. Hence, Briscoe engaged fans on an online discussion thread, sparking questions about his plans. One fan asked, “Who’s your favorite to win the Chili Bowl this year? And now that you have two teammates racing it, are we going to see you run it one year?”
Taking to the comment, Briscoe said, “This year is gonna be awesome but I’ll go Seavey. I’ve ran it the last 11 or 12 years but taking for sure this year off. It’s hard to leave my wife with 3 kids for a week. Karter Sarff is running my car this year”.
Notably, Chase Briscoe’s response confirmed his absence from this year’s Chili Bowl. But, he revealed his pick for the upcoming season, giving fans insight into who he believes has the best shot at victory. Logan Seavey is his take for the season, given that Seavey already has quite a positive reputation in midget car racing.

He recently completed the 2024/25 season in New Zealand as a part of the Green Way Racing team. On January 4, 2025, he secured a podium finish at the New Zealand Midget Championship, placing third behind Michael “Buddy” Kofoid and Australian driver Kaidon Brown. Now, Seavey is returning stateside, aiming for an unprecedented third consecutive Chili Bowl victory. While Briscoe’s faith in Seavey speaks volumes about his talent, it inevitably raises eyebrows. It’s because he overlooks his teammates Kyle Larson and Ty Gibbs’ potential for the upcoming season.

Briscoe said, “I’d say the biggest thing is just how Coach is extremely involved in the day to day and how he’s always at the shop.” He has also opened up about how Mahindra, who happened to be his biggest sponsor, is not on the cards at the moment. Speaking on the same, Briscoe revealed, “Currently no plans to have Mahindra on the car, unfortunately.”
While Briscoe adjusts to the changes and navigates his new journey with Joe Gibbs Racing, the challenge of adapting to different team culture and operations will undoubtedly test his resilience. Whether he can successfully carry Martin Truex Jr.’s legendary legacy is a test of time.
