With just about a month remaining before NASCAR attempts to hype up the fans for the Cup Series by presenting the LA Clash, fans could not be less excited for the whole prospect. Starting last year, the Clash at the Coliseum was introduced as the preseason exhibition race. However, its reception was downright horrible for the fans. Imagine trying to get hyped watching a bunch of cars race around at bare minimum speeds and act like bumper cars pushing each other out of contention. Well, that’s the clash for us. The least interesting way to build up interest for the rest of the season.
The fact that the tracks are built up just for the race and then torn back apart makes no sense money-wise. Neither do the teams traveling across the country for a no-points race, make any sense. But that is what NASCAR chose as its pre-season race. Last year’s race saw cars being bunched up together. With almost no space to move across each other. Contact was bound to happen, especially at such a claustrophobic track area.
The fans had a wildly mixed set of reactions to the inaugural race, some enjoyed it or at least the atmosphere if not the racing itself. Others made up their mind to never head back again. Although, recently, a journalist shared pictures of the track being built from scratch.

The NASCAR reporter tweeted, “Current progress at the LA Memorial Coliseum. Clash is 30 days away.“
NASCAR fans react to the progress pictures of the LA Coliseum
The pictured shared by the journalist showed the track surface being paved for the upcoming race. Last year, Team Penske driver and the 2022 Cup Champion, Joey Logano won the entire thing. However, this year, we are ought to see if there is any better racing and who would win the no-points scoring race. The only good thing to have come out of the first iteration of the Clash at the Coliseum was the fact that the viewership numbers were significantly higher than they had been for several years.
Fans were obviously not happy with NASCAR’s decision to return to the venue, despite criticism over last year’s event. If this was NASCAR’s idea to back to short-track racing, then they have done it all wrong. Moreover, a lot of the fans believe that the clash belongs at Daytona. Meanwhile, a few others called it to be a tricycle race.
The Clash was very boring last year, and building a track just to tear it right back up again seems like a total waste of money.. also, making teams travel all the way across the country for a non points race seems like a waste of money. This race belongs at @DAYTONA

A race to miss. Wasn't good last year. Race should be at Daytona

All that work and $$$ to watch cars go 65-75 mph and knock each other out of the way. 🙄🙄🙄

30 days to plan on something else to watch. Clash should always be at Daytona.

Another version of the NASCAR demolition derby

This is a silly gimmick that just cost teams a ton of money. Stop the gimmicks and have it at a real track you can’t tell me you can’t find a circle or oval on the west coast somewhere

Why would NASCAR choose the weirdest location for a race is beyond anyone’s comprehension. However, as of now, it’s only around a month before NASCAR heads back to the bumper car track which is the Clash at the Coliseum.
