With just four races to go, Bubba Wallace has picked the perfect time to find some form as he looks to seal his place in the 2023 Cup Series playoffs. The season has been a transformative one for the 29-year-old who has undergone a growth in attitude and on-track performance ever since he suffered a DNF at COTA. Last weekend at Richmond, Wallace set a personal record in what was one of his best performances of the season.

The 23XI driver led the most laps in a single race in his career at a track where he has historically struggled to get going. But Bubba is yet to qualify for the playoff stages of the Cup Series but now is in a position to do so. While the Alabama resident is currently 54 points ahead of the cutline, Wallace certainly hopes not to repeat his 2022 season’s fate at Michigan International Speedway.

Speaking to PRN’s Garage Pass, Wallace said that he is feeling good about the race at Michigan. The Alabama resident said that he and his team had a chance and the only thing that is left to be done is execution. Last year, Wallace was painfully close to winning at Michigan as he lost out to Kevin Harvick on the final restart.

He was devastated. This year, he will be hoping to not make the same mistake should he find himself in a similar situation.

“Feel good about it,” said Wallace ahead of the race weekend.

“You know some things have changed with the car a little bit. Temperatures are going to be a little different. So, nothing’s ever the same. So, you have to just go out and execute and try to plan out that last restart just one spot better.”

It is not just Michigan that will offer Wallace a chance to win. He will believe that he can go out and make a mark on the road courses as well. The situation he finds himself in with the points is also favorable for him to make it to the playoffs. Now, there are only two scenarios in Michigan that can make his road to qualification a bit complicated.

If either Chase Elliott or Ty Gibbs manages to turn their season around and win, Wallace might find himself in a bit of a pickle. Further, if it’s the Michigan master Kevin Harvick in victory lane, it will adversely affect his place on the table.

Everyone knows the viral video where Jordan Peele is playing the President of the United States. He walks down the podium after a speech, shaking the hands of those assembled below, reacting rather enthusiastically to his friends, and being a bit cold to those he doesn’t like.

Ahead of the race in Michigan, Wallace figured it would be a good idea to lighten things up a bit and make a parody of the Richmond driver intros.

It is always nice to see a driver brimming with confidence, completely relaxed, and secure in his abilities behind the wheel. If he keeps performing the way he is, there is a good chance that he will win one of the four remaining races.
