Carson Hocevar is set to make a move only a few people have ever made in the history of NASCAR. The Truck Series driver will be full-time in the Cup Series with heavy-spender Spire Motorsports. The 20-year-old has impressed the Cup team with his performance this season. Hocevar is one of the favorites to win the Truck Series crown this year. The 20-year-old is excited about joining the Cup Series in 2024 but admitted to being a bit sad about having to leave his Truck Series team as a full-time driver.
The 20-year-old driver stole the show at the Homestead-Miami Raceway on Saturday. The driver of the #42 claimed victory and will go into the championship race in Phoenix with all the momentum in the world. It would be the perfect end to his run in the Truck Series if he won the crown. An achievement like that would also give him a lot of confidence heading into the 2024 Cup Series season.

Spire Motorsports has been making big moves of late and has been on a spending spree. They bought a charter worth $40 million and acquired Kyle Busch Motorsports for approximately $30 million. The team had announced earlier this year that Zane Smith would be a part of their team in 2024.
The Carson Hocevar announcement was another chapter in the series of exciting acquisitions they have announced. The 20-year-old will replace Ty Dillon and drive the #77 car. Despite his age, Carson Hocevar has proven his on-track prowess both in the Truck Series and the Cup Series. His displays have grabbed the attention of people like Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jimmie Johnson.
However, 2023 is not over, and there is a job to be done. Carson Hocevar will drive his final race with Niece Motorsports as a full-timer in the championship race on November 4. His exit from the team that he has been a part of for three years has made it a bittersweet moment for the 20-year-old.
“I’m still gonna race for Niece next year for sure I know that. It’s definitely interesting, it’s definitely gonna be a little bit, I don’t know, sad, that I can’t go work with the guys I worked with for 3 years next year. But at the same time, we’re gonna have a shot to do that,” Hocevar said on a recent episode of the NASCAR Live podcast.
“We’re still gonna go race for trophies, we’re gonna still go and try to get trophies on the wall. We’re not gonna race for a championship next year so that’s going to be biggest thing…all very motivated knowing that it’s our last shot as a band to go out on top of what we’ve done and what we’ve achieved in the last 3 years,” the 20-year-old added. It seems like Carson Hocevar will be one of the biggest NASCAR stars of the future given his career trajectory. The Truck Series driver recently revealed his motivation to do what he does and it truly is heartwarming.

Racers usually don’t need any more motivation apart from wanting to win a race or championship. But for Carson Hocevar, it is much more than that. Driving part-time for Legacy Motor Club in the Cup, the 20-year-old has achieved four top-20 finishes in six starts. The team recently released a video in which Hocevar revealed his motivation.
“I drive for my mom; she’s a breast cancer survivor, so big thanks to Chevrolet and Team Chevy to support and push this initiative for all the breast cancer survivors,“ he said.
