Legacy Motor Club took the high road, becoming Toyota’s third stable in 2024 with the solid backing of the manufacturer’s race development division, the TRD. The announcement came in the month of May when the team revealed its decision to switch camps, leaving Jimmie Johnson’s long-time associate Chevrolet to partner with the Japanese manufacturer.

For die-hard old-school fans, JJ leaving the Chevy was a bomb, considering Johnson’s title reigns with the all-American manufacturer. Many from the community expressed their displeasure vividly on social media, but as we near the end of 2023, LMC’s teaser of its 2024 scheme has the fans drooling over it.

In a development that nobody actually anticipated, LMC is now set to become the third franchise for the Japanese manufacturer after Joe Gibbs Racing and Michael Jordan-Denny Hamlin’s 23XI Racing.

A total of 8 Toyotas will be on the prowl from 2024, trying to beat the American manufacturers- Ford and Chevrolet – on their turf despite their disappointing 2023 season with all 3 of its championship contenders losing out miserably. Coming back to the LMC garage, the team’s sudden switch wasn’t well-received by fans, as many Chevy fans felt betrayed to see their champion move away.

Now coming to the exciting bit, recently, the team shared a sneak peek of its #43 race car of Erik Jones. In fact, the ‘X’ post became so viral that just within a few hours, it amassed more than a thousand likes and close to a hundred retweets. The team also thanked its partner Chevrolet with a heartwarming post, extending its gratitude for the past years.

Despite the shock and awe, the fandom has sort of calmed down as the team posted a new snippet of its race car. With this news making its way into NASCAR nation, fans were pretty stocked to see the full unveiling of the #43 LMC Toyota.

One fan urged the team to “Make it Petty Blue,” honoring the 7-time Cup Series champion, Richard “The King” Petty. While another user expressed his excitement in words, commenting, “From the very first announcement that Toyota was coming to NASCAR, my dream is finally coming true. I am so looking forward 2024. #GoTeamLMC

On the other hand, others chimed in with hilarious animations before a fan relayed the obvious, “This bout to be a banger of a scheme.”
