Chase Elliott definitely had a great season. Even though he could not win the title, he did put up a great show for his fans. Making it to the top of the points table, Elliott registered five wins this season. However, amidst all the success, there is something that Hendrick Motorsports might not be too happy about.

In a recent post by Joseph Srigley, some statistics shared by Gear Up Game revealed that this year, a 50-year-old Hendrick Motorsports record had been broken. Chase Elliott and Hendrick Motorsports led the 2022 Cup Series with 857 laps. However, this was the first time since 1960, and the fourth time in NASCAR Cup Series history, that no driver led 1000+ laps in the Cup Series season.
At season's end, @chaseelliott and the No. 9 @TeamHendrick team led the series with 857 laps led.

With this 62-year-old record being broken, it seems that the team will now have to set a new standard in the upcoming 2023 season. With a great season behind, hopefully, the team will aim to achieve greater heights in the coming years.
How did Chase Elliott perform at Phoenix?
Chase Elliott’s championship dreams were shattered following a spin at the Phoenix track. Just after a restart around the 200th lap, Elliott tried to move up the track.

However, he chose to do that close to the start-finish line. And as a result, his car came down the “dogleg” and spun out off the nose of Ross Chastain’s car.

This wreck caused Elliott to finish the race in the 28th position. In a post-race interview, Elliott said; “I felt like we just kind of peaked right there before we crashed. And I felt like we got our car driving pretty good, we just had our best pit stop of the day, so that was all really solid. And heck, we were right there next to the [No.] 22.”

Furthermore, Elliott did not blame Chastain for the wreck. Instead, he just said that it was just disappointing, as the wreck ended their race.
