Home/NASCAR

Many would remember Frankie Muniz as the teen actor who played beloved characters like Agent Cody Banks and Malcolm (in the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle) “” and “Big Fat Liar” amongst several others. The actor is also known for his deep-rooted interest in NASCAR. In fact, back in 2001, he drove the pace car at the Daytona 500 and even met Dale Earnhardt prior to the race on that fateful day. Recently, he shared a rather cryptic message hinting at his possible arrival to the sport sooner than later.

Earlier this year, Muniz had mentioned on his website that he was going to field a NASCAR team, named “Muniz Racing Team.” He had invited sponsors to join the team. Though the news came as a surprise at the time, it was not a knee-jerk move by Frankie. It turns out that he has had a little experience in several formats of professional racing.

He has run the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race more than once, with a best finish of 3rd and a best-finishing celebrity title. He has raced in Formula BMW USA as well as the prestigious Champ Car Atlantic Series, earning $17,000 in prize money at the latter. The $40 million net-worth actor even made his stock car racing debut in 2021. Moreover, this year he also took part in an ARCA Menards test session.

The man has plenty of racing experience under his belt. But would it translate to surviving on track against other seasoned NASCAR drivers? Probably not, because he doesn’t bring the level of experience and accolades to the table as the current drivers on track do—many of whom have been racing since childhood. But that does not completely diminish his scope of laying his hands on NASCAR. It is more likely that he would start with the Truck or Xfinity Series and work his way up.
