Last weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Tyler Reddick had a remarkable performance. Starting from the pole position, he set a great tone for the race. Reddick didn’t just ride the wave; he dominated the first stage, clinching the win, and also secured fourth place in the second stage. As the race neared its conclusion, his team made a gutsy call to stay out on the track while others headed to pit road. That gamble paid off when a caution flag came out just as the others completed their last stop, allowing Reddick to restart at the front.
The excitement reached its peak on the final lap when Reddick pulled off an impressive maneuver, moving high to slip past Ryan Blaney and Denny Hamlin. He won the race and made it into the finals, becoming the first 23XI Racing driver to do so. With Martinsville next, Reddick does not have much pressure to win the race, and although he will try, the team isn’t under pressure anymore. Reddick’s crew chief came forward to explain what the No.45 team has planned for the upcoming weekends, as he made it clear that their focus is on the finals.

In the wake of Tyler Reddick’s triumphant performance at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, crew chief Billy Scott expressed a strong sense of optimism about the team’s momentum moving forward. He stated, “Yeah, it does seem to be a real thing. And it’s so hard to put your finger on how you make that and how you keep it.”
Scott acknowledged that while they’ve had good runs, the finals will be no easy task. Scott continued to elaborate on the previous few weeks, looking back on the pressure the team felt going into races where they either needed to secure a win or gather vital points. He explained, “But the last few weeks, going back to Charlotte, we started to get into a situation where we either felt we had to win, or we had to go into the race and accumulate more than 40 points.”
The pressure to perform and the expectations placed on the team often led to a tense atmosphere. However, following Reddick’s victory, there’s a palpable shift in their mindset. The success at Homestead has provided a sense of relief, giving the team a more relaxed approach to Martinsville while the focus is kept on Phoenix. As they set their sights on Phoenix, Scott emphasized the importance of focus and determination, stating, “So, you know, we know we’re going to go into Phoenix with that same need, that same desire. It’s going to be an all-or-nothing type of situation.”

Scott believes that their preparation for Phoenix is rooted in their mindset, insisting that “it’s as much a mindset as it is a performance-based deal.” He further reassured that the team is already concentrating on their objectives: “We all know what our job is for Phoenix…leave it all out there and do everything we can.” Tyler Reddick’s win at Homestead was something that fans will be talking about for years to come, so let’s take a look at what the No. 45 driver had to say about his victory.

Once he took the lead, there was no looking back. Reddick couldn’t help but reflect on the thrill of the moment during a chat on Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour. In his interview, Reddick described his finish, saying, “Things had to play out a certain way. Like, Denny and Blaney getting to racing really hurt their momentum on the corners and kept me close.”
He explained that as the two drivers battled, it created the opportunity he needed to pounce. Reddick was determined to get clean air on the final lap, and when he saw Blaney’s attention focused on defending against an expected move, he took his shot. “I didn’t lift until I got to his door. I didn’t know what was going to happen on the other side of it…but I knew if I wanted to have a shot at battling for the win, I had to at least get even with him.”
The confidence in his car paid off when he realized, “my car stuck. It stuck really, really well,” allowing him to sail through the last corner. Coming off Turn 4, he was left in disbelief at what he had just accomplished. Now that he is in the finals, like Billy Scott said, the focus is on Phoenix.
