23XI Racing’s Road Course Surgeon Lets-Slip COTA Worries Amidst Hope of Victory Lane Revisit

The race at COTA is back, and so is the excitement revolving around the racetrack in Texas. Originally built for Formula One, this race track has had NASCAR races running since 2021. Last year’s Cup Series memories on this track are still vivid. Especially how Tyler Reddick went past William Byron with just four laps to go and emerged triumphant. Tyler Reddick opens up in an interview before the COTA outing. The details of the same are uploaded to Spotify by NASCAR Live. Reddick explained that when considering lap time, the team prioritizes certain aspects. Although the track sections have been repaved, lap time and speed are expected to remain consistent. However, adjustments to the race cars will be necessary due to changes in grip levels. That’s probably the approach 23XI’s #45 driver and his team would be eyeing.

“You just try to prioritize what’s gonna be best for lap time. You kind of go from there. The areas of the track, the sections have been repaved, it’s gonna change out a little bit. Certainly I think the areas were, lap time, speed is going to remain the same. Ah, I think some of the things you bring in to your race cars will change around with the grip differences we’re going to have. That’s what come to line with me,” said Reddick.

Tyler Reddick demonstrated his prowess by leading a race-high 41 laps on the demanding Circuit of the Americas road course. This remarkable victory marked his first win as a 23XI Racing driver. Notably, it was Reddick’s fourth career win overall and his third triumph on a road course.

Despite some good starts this season, Tyler Reddick has yet to bag any Cup Series races this season. Returning to the stage where he secured victory last year, will it pose a challenge for Reddick and his team? How will they overcome this?

During a later part of the same interview, Reddick opened up about his COTA outing last season. Mainly, he focused on the role of his crew chief, Randall Burnett, in his 2023 COTA win. Burnett has previously served as a crew chief for Kyle Busch‘s #8 team at Richard Childress Racing.

Reddick said, “Yeah, you know for us, last year that stretch was tough. I’m gonna give it to my crew chief Randall, he really pulled it together up there. And we have to get out of that hole. At least a huge testament for everything. With all the work he and the rest of my guys put in, he’s a great leader.” He added, “And after that stuff stopped, he put it on his back and said, ‘Hi guys we’re going to get out of here, and go after it.’ Yeah, so it was fun going to COTA, dominate like that, have a really fast race car… It was a lot of fun for sure.”
