Of all the names who raised their voice against NASCAR and Goodyear’s tire issues after the disastrous race in Texas, the voice that rose above the rest was of Denny Hamlin.

The veteran took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the tire situation that ended many races on Sunday.

“If your thinking that maybe NASCAR will look into someone else for tires, keep dreaming,” Hamlin tweeted his nihilistic viewpoint on the situation. “GY pays them a fat check so they are allowed to gouge the teams each week.”

23XI Racing employee disagrees with Denny Hamlin

Despite Denny Hamlin’s confidence and conviction in his opinion, one of Hamlin’s employees, essentially, Freddie Kraft, the spotter of Bubba Wallace, thought otherwise.

The spotter argued that while NASCAR and Goodyear were to be blamed for what happened, part of the blame should also be taken by the NASCAR teams themselves for pushing the limits.

“I’m gonna be honest, I still think this is on the teams. Obviously, they’re both playing a part in it but I think the majority of the blame lays on the teams,” he said in a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast.

Kraft added that he saw Rodney Childers’ comments in which the crew chief is more or less admitting that.

“They’re saying these teams are lowering the air pressure in these tires to get the diffuser down, to get the diffuser to the optimal downforce and we’ve said it here on before, if these teams figure out a way to go faster, even if it’s not safe, they’re gonna try it,” he continued.

In the spotter’s opinion, the teams will push the limits as far as they can simply because it’s a risk vs reward situation. “You’re gonna go faster with lower air pressure with diffuser down, you might blow a tire,” he added.
