NASCAR’s rich history is a treasure trove of memories for fans. The good old days still hold a pivotal role and more often than not, the racing community seems to reminiscence on the bygone days. In a similar instance recently, fans came across a funny bet that went down almost two decades ago involving the driver who is the very personification of the word excitement.
Nicknamed ‘Mr. Excitement’, Jimmy Spencer’s eccentric personality was not just restricted to the asphalt tracks but extended way beyond that. Fans got a glimpse of the driver’s shenanigans when, recently, a tweet revealing how Chip Ganassi lost $500 to him caught fans’ attention.

Auto-racing history fanatic nascarman recently took to Twitter to provide tidbits on a funny incident involving Jimmy Spencer and his then team owner, Chip Ganassi. The episode in question is a bet that took place in December of 2001. Spencer, who boasted a heavy build, was reportedly challenged by Ganassi to fit into an IndyCar. The team owner was apparently confident that the driver wouldn’t fit into the vehicle and even bet $500 on it.

However, Spencer proved it otherwise, when he tested an IndyCar at Sebring. Hilariously, the driver removed the car seat to be able to somehow squeeze in. To brag about his victory, he also made five laps in the car and won the bet.
