WNBA Hall-of-Famer Had a Message for Bubba Wallace Whilst Making Strong Brittney Griner Statement in Darlington

Women?s National Basketball Association Hall of Famer, Dawn Staley recently shared a picture with NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace on Twitter. On September 4, 2022, Staley attended the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. The two-time champion was the honorary pace car driver at the Darlington race.?

During her time at Darlington, Staley got a chance to meet 23XI driver, Bubba Wallace. The two of them clicked a picture together. And the Olympic gold medalist shared the photo on her official Twitter account.

The caption read; ?I mean meeting @BubbaWallace was a thing!? What a great guy?!!! Go win that thing!? @TooToughToTame #Southern500?

In the picture, Staley was seen sporting a ?WE ARE BG? badge. The badge was a symbol of support for fellow basketball player, Brittney Griner. Arrested at the Moscow airport, the Phoenix Mercury player, Brittney Griner, was accused of bringing illegal narcotics to Russia. It was reported that the basketball player was carrying vape cartridges containing hashish oil.?

A marijuana concentrate, the oil has a high concentration of psychoactive chemicals and the Russian Federal Customs service sentenced her to nine years in prison. However, on May 3, 2022, the U.S. State Department said that Griner has been ?wrongfully detained? and the government officials are working to secure her release.?

An uproar of demands, asking the government to free Griner have surfaced since. Griner?s wife, Cherelle Griner had also expressed her frustration on the continued detention of her wife. Showcasing her support for Griner, Dawn Staley posted a close-up picture of her badge on Twitter.?

Being the honorary pace car driver, Staley got a chance to interact with drivers and pit crews for the race.?

In an interview before the race, Dawn Stanly opened up about her experience at the practice. She said; ?As I get older, I don?t have a need for speed, but certainly being here, it gets your juices flowing.?

While talking about her interaction with Bubba Wallace, Staley added; ?He was calm. He gets in a zone, and obviously it?s like automatic because you?re preparing every single day.?

Apart from Wallace, Staley talked about how everyone at the pit is really good at the jobs they do. She said that they work ?quickly, efficiently and without a lot of fat to it.?

Glad to be able to witness everything up close, she said; ?I think seeing that up close, you can really see the inner workings of a team and how prepared you need to be to give yourself an edge; to give your team an edge out there on the track.?
