Recently, Sonoma Raceway announced that Shaq aka DJ Diesel would be performing in a pre-race concert on June 11 at Sonoma Surprised by the basketball player’s innumerable talents, NASCAR fans began pouring in their reactions on social media.

As he is famous across the world for his skills and talents as a basketball player, many fans were unaware of Shaq’s alter-ego DJ Diesel. Asking the fans to be prepared for the upcoming Toyota/Save Mart 350 Cup race, Sonoma Raceway announced, “Basketball fans worldwide know him as Shaquille O?Neal, but it?s his alter ego DJ Diesel that will rev up the crowd with electronic dance music prior to the June 11 Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway.”

And as soon as the news surfaced online, several NASCAR enthusiasts expressed their surprise at Shaquille O’Neal’s unending list of talents. It all started with one fan jokingly asking, “I love DJ Diesel, but who the hell is Shaquille O’Neal?”

Seeing this on Reddit, other fans let their creative juices flow.

“Just googled him and apparently Shaquille O?Neal used to play pickup basketball games with that baseball player who owns 23XI with Denny. Think he is some sort of insurance salesman or something”

“I heard he was a topical pain relief salesman.”

“Really? I bought a printer with the guy’s face on it”

When Shaquille O’Neal had a terrifying NASCAR experience

Alright, we don’t have to take the aforementioned fan comments too seriously. It’s not the first time that Shaq has crossed paths with NASCAR. Back in 2010, the NBA champion tried his hand at car racing during his reality show ‘Shaq vs.’

Throughout the years, O’Neal has made several media appearances in TV shows, movies, rap songs, etc. However, the reality show ‘Shaq vs’ was one of a kind as it featured the basketball player taking on challenges against athletes from different sports.

During one of the episodes of the show, Shaq found himself face-to-face with former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. After competing with Earnhardt Jr in a 50-lap race, a defeated Shaq admitted that it was the toughest three hours of his life.

As per Yahoo Sports, he said, ?Whoever said these guys aren?t athletes are out of their minds. That was the toughest three hours I?ve ever had in my life. I was fitted for a car, me and Dale raced 50 laps, and I slept for two days after that. I really did. I don?t really get scared by a lot of stuff, but I was freaking terrified. You definitely have to be a great shape to do this.?
