Bubba Wallace lay bears his dissatisfaction with the pit-road problems that have proved detrimental to him

The 2023 Cup Series season has not been a merciful season for the 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace. The pit-road problem has persisted since last year and was evident in the Goodyear 400 at Darlington, in the ongoing season. Although the driver was running in the top-5 however, a loose lug nut forced the driver to fall down to 18th place. And given his past precedence, the driver ahead of the race at Atlanta on Sunday expressed his dissatisfaction with the pit road and how to overcome the issues. Wallace went on a rant to dissect every issue that the team owned by NBA legend Michael Jordan is facing besides the pit roads problem.

Talking to Frontstretch, the No.23 Toyota driver exclaimed, “Just execution. You know we had a lot of Pit Roads last year that took us out and attended this wheels throughout the season. I know that number pretty well, I think it was two here. It’s just not making mistakes on that side of things, not making mistakes on my side.”

“Returning as a driver as a person, understand the situations that you are in throughout the race, look at Charlotte we were not good and had pit road troubles. But understanding, we still got three stages but we still got two stages, okay it was the last stage, no mistakes and we didn’t have any mistakes at our last stage gave us the opportunity to finish fourth.”

“Understanding that before you get it was sort of dialed out because you think that it’s over and we will recover and then you go down a slippery slope on the mental side, alright we will try again next week when it’s a time earlier,” Wallace asserted.

While fans were hopeful, that Wallace would bring a favorable race in the inaugural race. However, the driver shot himself in the foot as he involved himself in a wreck, towards the end of the race and which eventually led to overtime in the race.

The incident occurred on Turn 1 with just 2 laps to go. While the driver found stability on the alien track, however in the penultimate lap, the Toyota driver failed to gauge the distance and went into Turn 1 too hot and crashed with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. The 23XI Racing sustained heavy damage to his car and finished 31st in the race.

Nevertheless, the driver made sure that he had a worthwhile time in Chicago as he organized a Block Party to assert the notions of diversity and inclusivity. He had also expressed, “Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t like changes that we’re doing as a sport to tap into different demographics and make the sport more welcoming and inclusive, and that’s on them. They have to live with that. For us, we continue to march forward.”
