Kobayashi Reveals His Thoughts as His Much-Anticipated Debut Becomes a Reality

Before being at the helm of the Toyotas, Kobayashi has seen his fair share of adversity over the years. During his days in Formula 1, the driver was a vicious competitor on track with a cut-throat attitude. He has overtaken drivers at the tight and conspicuous Monaco GP and he has conquered Le Mans.

The Toyota Gazoo Racing driver and WEC team principal is all set to join the proud Toyota’s NASCAR camp as they embark on a new adventure together.

Reflecting on his debut, Kobayashi said to The Associated Press, “It’s my dream, actually, “It’s such a big sport in the United States, and racing in Europe, I never had the chance or opportunity to race NASCAR. I think the opportunity will be challenging for myself because it is such a different category.”

Truly confident in his abilities, the driver boasted, “I think I’m a guy who doesn’t need much practice, to be honest,” he later added, “I think once we jump in the car, we will be OK in a couple of laps. So I’m not really concerned about form.”
