Ask any NASCAR enthusiast as to who is the ‘King of Road Courses in NASCAR’ and they would unequivocally reply it’s the Hendrick Motorsports ace Chase Elliott. And the answer is not a surprising one, as it is backed by statistics and the positive outcomes of the driver. The No.9 Chevrolet driver has 18 Cup wins till now, out of which, seven have come on road courses. But since last year, the 2020 Cup Series champion is yet to reinforce his dominance on the road tracks, and it seems that he is on the brink of relinquishing the title to someone else.

It is none other than the 23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick, who has proved what it takes to conquer the road courses with the Next Gen cars, which has been the biggest struggle for a majority of drivers. Owing to his impressive performance on NASCAR’s road courses, his fellow teammate Bubba Wallace couldn’t help himself but shower Reddick with a new title, ahead of the race at Sonoma.

The issue of brake rotor failure at the Gateway was a solemn issue for the 23XI Racing, as both of its drivers faltered from achieving favorable results. But it was not the first time that Tyler Reddick had faced such an issue. If you rewind back to the race at Sonoma last year, then you will remember the fact that the same incident occurred with Reddick, while he was under the umbrella of Richard Childress. He finished 35th in the race. But soon, he got his redemption by taking the chequered flag at the Road America. Since then, he has never looked back when it came to road courses.

His latest rendezvous where Reddick again emerged victorious and underpinned his name as the next King of Road courses was at Austin during the Circuit of The Americas race.

Now, all of this has led to his teammate Bubba Wallace crowning Reddick with a new title ahead of the road course race at Sonoma.

In a pre-race conference, while speaking about his experience racing at Sonoma, the No.23 divulged the facts, “I actually enjoy coming to Sonoma, it’s so different, and the atmosphere here is obviously, beautiful where we are at. To have a racetrack that’s built that’s built inside of the mountains, that aspect I love it.”

Wallace added, “But when we look at as a company as a race team is going to be, have done to our road course program, since bringing it on, of course, Jesus, [pointing to Reddick] is that what I should call you now?”

“I think that’s what everybody calls me,” he added in jest.

Tyler Reddick Is Ready to Prove Himself and His Worthiness of the New Title in the Race at Sonoma

In an effort to know Tyler Reddick’s reaction, the journalists from Frontstretch asked the driver, “Bubba calls you the road course Jesus, how do you feel about that?”

To this, the No.45 Toyota driver replied, “Well, I think he stole that title from Booty Barker. Booty has a way with words that’s pretty much unrivaled. He comes up with things that most people can’t think of himself. I guess this is just coming into this you know. Not a lot of experience in road courses, but as of late, I’ve got a lot better at them.”

“Me and Bob, have my strengths and weaknesses and it’s been fun to be able to have one of my strengths be this and be able to have myself and others part of the team to help get in the right direction.”

“First, we will go first race here this year. I know he is really hard on himself for the mistake he made early in that race, but I’m excited to see how much better the space is going to be here this weekend,” Michael Jordan’s driver said.
